There are two things that are top priorities in life: my family and helping people.

Growing up, I was the skinny, weak girl, last to be picked for a team in P.E. In high school, I swam competitively for three years. Although I loved swimming, I always dreamed of being stronger. In 2010, as a stay at home mom and avid mountain biking fanatic, I was concerned my weekly trips to Alafia and Boyette trails were not frequent enough. I began CrossFit to stay in shape for my weekend mountain biking. I was excited and a little scared. Prior to CrossFit, I had never lifted heavy weights in my life. I had never even held a barbell. Little did I know I would love it so much!

Through CrossFit, I have learned so much about myself. I am capable of much more than I ever thought possible. I am stronger and healthier now, at 40 years old, than at any other point in my life. I want this for every. single. person.

My husband, Javi, and I started FitCity CrossFit for one simple reason: to help people. On this journey, I have rediscovered my passion for nutrition and combined it with our goal of building strong bodies and minds for people of all ages and abilities.

When I first began at FitCity CrossFit in January of 2015 I was looking for a workout that would take me to that next level. Previously I had done some weight lifting, and was a pretty decent runner, but I was looking for something that would bring it all together. Right from the first workout, I knew that this was it!

From the great training of the coaches, to the moral support from everyone working out, I was inspired to push myself and improve my physical condition. Now, a year and a half later, once again with the support of the coaches and the members, I have pushed myself to a new level of performance as a trainer! I am so excited to have this chance to educate and inspire others about fitness!

Ah, CrossFit! Where do I begin to express that love and support I have found within this community?! I have always been athletic but had not found my niche until I walked in the door of FitCity in August of 2016. I will admit, I was a bit apprehensive initially in terms of what I would be capable of doing in CrossFit because of a very serious foot and ankle injury that I suffered back in 2011 due to a skydiving accident. But with some patience and incredible support and guidance from the FitCity team, I have no limitations to what I can do! This journey is what led me to want to become part of the FitCity coaching family in April of 2019. In my daily life, I love helping people step out of their comfort zones and pushing them to be the best version of themselves- and coaching CrossFit is no different! I love sharing my passion of this sport with everyone who walks in that door.

Outside of the gym, you can find me hurling myself out of aircraft or blowing bubbles underwater. I have been a licensed USPA skydiver since 2011 and PADI SCUBA diver since 2016. I am also a proud employee of Moffitt Cancer Center and work as a Paralegal in the Office of General Counsel.

I have been around CrossFit for nearly half of my life. The constant goal to better myself was always in my mind. Becoming a coach seemed like second nature, except for the public speaking aspect. Now, having faced that fear, I have no problem standing in front of my class and working with clients.

As an 18-year-old female, I was concerned about the level of respect I would receive. However, during and after my extensive internship, my FitCity community accepted me with open arms, respecting me and my certification without a second thought about my age.

Outside of the gym, I am honors student at Land O Lakes High School with a specialization in Culinary Arts. I am also a full time Dual Enrollment student through Pasco-Hernando State College where I am on track to graduate with over 60 college credit hours towards what will be a B.A. in Astronautical Engineering.

I have been peeking into the CrossFit world since about 2018 when we were stationed in Okinawa Japan. I was currently a stay at home mom, where doing home workouts in my garage while taking care of three kids was my only option in order to make sure that I fostered my mental and physical health. The mental and physical demands of motherhood made me crave feeling like “myself” again, and I felt like getting my body stronger and finding a way to carve out time for myself gave me the tools to help me be the best version of myself. That’s where CrossFit fit perfectly! I had to get creative with my workouts, the limited space I had to do them in and little time I had to get them done. I observed myself getting stronger than I ever had been in my life (including having less lower back issues), doing movements and working with weight that I never thought I’d do, wanting to continue to challenge myself & feeling like I could take on more of the mental load that life threw at me at any given time! My passion to learn more about CrossFit grew from there and never stopped since. Before, during and after the pandemic it has even played a part in my kids lives to keep them active, healthy & educated about how taking care of their body is imperative-and can be fun at the same time! Now I’m on a new path in life where I want to guide others to recognize their potential and how important it is to take care of their mental and physical well-being. It brings me fulfillment to see how young kid and teen athletes are setting themselves up for success and are able to see positive models around them doing the same. I feel like I’ve finally found my passion, or niche as they say, by working with people to find ways to gain control of their own happiness! I am beyond grateful to have found this FitCity family where I feel right at home and where the team and I have the opportunities to help others.

I first started CrossFit about 5 years ago when I was in the worst shape of my life. I was scared to death but after a few classes I was hooked. Fast forward to today, I’m in way better shape, I can and have done things I never imagined and I’m setting myself up for a healthy life. Here’s the really cool thing…I was able to bring two things I love together- CrossFit and Marketing. Now, I’m not only a member but I also do the social media, events coordination and planning, and email marketing for FitCity. Sounds like a win win for me!
