Latin Dance
BOOK A FREE INTROJorge Chávez is a homegrown Tampa, FL salsero, and super-proud of it. He first got involved in Tampa salsa scene back in 2004 by taking dance classes at Tampa’s long-running Salsa Caliente dance studio.
Four years later Jorge took classes with world-renowned Island Touch Dance Academy where he would go on to earn their student of the year award for 2009 and 2010. He went on to dance on several Island Touch performance teams, and eventually become one of their dance instructors.
Jorge gives credit to the instructor at Island Touch for his passion for social dancing and teaching. Eventually, Jorge went on to perform for other dance teams throughout Tampa such as the Diamond Dancers and Ritmo Urbano.
Jorge has also volunteered for three years as the lead instructor for the Latin Dance Club of the University of South Florida. His specialty includes dancing salsa in the slot (On1 and On2), Cha Cha Cha, Pachanga, and Bachata. His emphasis is on the technique of smooth partner work and staying on beat of the various Afro-Cuban rhythms in Latin music.
Learn a fun new social skill. Doesn’t matter if you were born with two left feet.
Anybody who wants to learn can indeed learn to dance Salsa with Jorge. Just like a child learning to walk, “Come on baby, you can do it!”
