Introduction to CrossFit
Free- 2nd Saturday of every month, or by appointment.

All perspective members MUST take this class before joining Fit City CrossFit. This is a time where we cover the basics of functional fitness so that we can best create a fitness plan for you. Because CrossFit is a unique style of fitness, we want to properly introduce what it is before you decide to join us. It is important to understand what you are getting into when you join any CrossFit program.

CrossFit Essentials

The emphasis of the Essentials course is on skill development and exposure to basic CrossFit movements. The class is designed to prepare you to enter the vigor’s of daily CrossFit group classes. Our instructors will be focusing on technique to ensure your safety and produce success at the next level.

We will introduce technique and mechanics first, then intensity, showing you movements that begin with the relatively basic patterns and progressively more technical and skill based. It is important that you are here for each of the 12 sessions as the essentials course is progressive and builds on the session before.

Each session is broken up into two major parts including a skills section, covering a new movement or CrossFit technique, and a workout designed to challenge you and help you practice each learned skill.

As the purpose of the Essentials class is to ensure proper form and execution of the CrossFit movements, there is a skills test administered on the last day of class. This class must be successfully passed in order to advance to the CrossFit class for your safety and that of the other members.

CrossFit:

The CrossFit class is intended for those members who have successfully completed the Essentials program or have been an active member of another CrossFit gym for a minimum of 3 months. If you are a transfer from another gym, you must demonstrate a sound understanding of the 9 functional CrossFit movements.

Each session will incorporate these moves as well as introduce and perfect more advanced Olympic lifting and gymnastic skills. These workouts will be more rigorous than those in Essentials. Athletes in this class are here to meet personal fitness goals as well as push themselves to the next levels of strength and condition in order to master new skills and become more advance CrossFit athletes.

Boot camp: This class is intended to be similar to CrossFit but omit the barbell and high end gymnastics movements. This is still a very intense workout with a heavy emphasis on technique and movement patterns.
