My name is Corey D and this is my crossfit success story

When I started Crossfit back in 2014, my only goals were to lift more and faster than the time before. I also thought the muscle up was the coolest move, so my goal was to be able to do one of those. My first WOD was an evening AMRAP which consisted of squats, deadlifts, weighted lunges, and running. It was cold and miserable, so I was pretty much hooked  after that! Since then my squat and deadlift are two lifts that have become considerably better due to coaching. Although they are not complicated lifts, Sarah and Javi have helped me to lift without the wrong stress points.

Crossfit gets a bad rap, because it’s about finding your limit and pushing past it. Most of the time your biggest boundary is in your head. All boxes are pushing you past your limit, I’ve been there. I appreciate the coaches at FitCity paying attention to each individual, helping people getting form right and getting technique down. Stressing the need for these is important to keep from getting hurt. Once the technique and confidence of the individual is built, our coaches know when you’ll be able to throw the weight up that you want. Safely, efficiently with MAX outcome and minimal effort. I am constantly learning to better my form with my coach’s assistance. I know someone is always watching out for me.

What are some of your favorite moments at FitCity?

I have had lots of favorite moments but so far the Open has been my all time, the competition being as strong as the comraderie. For people just getting started, there is no rush. Learn the form, work on your mobility, don’t be afraid to ask and don’t shun from advice. There is no one size fits all and we have all had a first day.

What are some mental and physical changes you have seen since joining FitCity?

I’m told I’m nicer.

What is your favorite WOD (workout of the day)?

Hero WODs

What is your least favorite WOD?

Anything with the Airdyne bike

What is your favorite movement?

I don’t have a favorite movement, but which ever movement I am least proficient in at the time. I enjoy the challenge of learning and perfecting the technique.
